  • Chakra Balancing

I pride myself on delivering high standards of care to ensure my clients receive a professional and excellent service. My love for natural healing, my empathy for others and genuine interest in peoples well being, supporting them to live healthy and fulfilling lives is what drives my Reflexology practice.

My professional background is in NHS healthcare, with a career spanning 21 years in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nursing before becoming a full time Reflexologist. I therefore have a wealth of experience in providing a unique holistic approach to Reflexology which considers your physical, emotional and mental health needs.

I have personally lived with the physical and emotional effects of stress and the impact of managing chronic pain. I know how debilitating these can be and have experienced the benefits of Reflexology and other complementary therapies on my own general well being.

Aside from Reflexology I also enjoy the simple things in life, a walk in nature, meeting up with friends, music, dancing, comedy, reading, Yoga, Qigong, Meditation and escaping the world for a while with a decent film!

Thank you so much for visiting my webpage, I am glad you found me and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a gentle, complementary therapy carried out on the hands or feet. Its holistic approach takes into account the person as a whole, therefore each treatment is individualised to meet your specific needs. Your treatment begins with soothing and relaxing effleurage (massage) to warm up the tissues, relax the muscles, encourage blood flow and stimulate the nerves. Throughout the treatment, a gentle pressure is applied to specific 'reflex points’ believed to correspond to the organs of the body and the wider bodily systems. The techniques used are thought to initiate the body's own natural healing abilities, promoting deep relaxation and helping you to restore balance in your body where it is needed most.

Whilst Reflexology cannot diagnose, cure, or replace medical care for health conditions, it can be helpful in promoting relaxation, releasing tension, helping with sleep, improving mood and promoting a sense of wellbeing. The intention to 'heal' is an important part of my Reflexology practice, and so your reason for treatment is always at the heart of every treatment I give.

How can Reflexology help you?

Relax

Feet resting on a bed, showing deep relaxation after reflexology.

By encouraging the parasympathetic nervous system (our bodys relaxed state of being), Reflexology can be helpful in promoting relaxation, releasing tension, improving mood, sleep, and enhancing general well-being. Helpful for when you are feeling stressed, living with Menopausal symptoms or experiencing chronic health conditions or pain.

Recharge

Clients experiencing stress, anxiety, aches, pains, or menopausal symptoms report feeling replenished or energised after a treatment, feeling more aligned and balanced within themselves. Holistically, Reflexology works all the systems within the body to achieve a state of harmony and balance and regular treatments can help to maintain this positive sense of wellbeing.

Restore

Bare feet walking on grass, promoting natural wellness and relaxation.

By supporting the natural balance of the body, Reflexology can help you feel physically and emotionally restored. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle alongside Reflexology can help you sustain these benefits, reduce the effects of stress and help you cope better with lifes ups and downs.

Frequently asked questions

How many treatments will I need?

Reflexology can be given as a stand alone treatment or a course of treatments for a particular issue. An individualised treatment plan with the recommended number of sessions will be suggested for you after your initial consultation and treatment. Please note that everyone is unique and so the response to Reflexology can be immediate or you may require more than one session. Generally, benefits can be seen after 4-5 regular treatments giving the body the best opportunity for the self-healing process to begin.

What should I do on the day of my treatment?

To get the most benefit from a treatment, it is recommended that you have the opportunity to relax somewhat afterwards, you can carry on about your usual day, however it isn’t advisable to have a treatment directly before something too stressful or exerting. Having something light to eat and no less than an hour before treatment is best, post treatment again stick to a lighter meal and avoid coffee for a couple of hours. Alcohol should be avoided before and after a treatment.

What should I wear during my treatment?

Loose, comfortable clothing is best to enable you to fully relax. You will not be required to remove anything other than your socks and shoes, leaving just your feet and ankles exposed. A seasonal blanket may be used to cover you during the treatment for warmth and comfort and for mobile treatments you will be invited to use a blanket of your own.

Will Reflexology hurt?

Reflexology is a gentle therapy and should not be painful. At times there may be sensitivities to the touch but the techniques and pressure used are light and intuitive with what is right for you. Unique thumb and finger walking techniques are used throughout, applying varying pressure at identified reflex points to suit your needs.

What health conditions can Reflexology help with?

Reflexology is particularly beneficial for relieving symptoms of stress, tension and anxiety, which is why it is such a popular complementary therapy. My clients have also shared with me that they have noticed improvements with their sinus issues, quality of their sleep, headache relief, improved lymphatic drainage, mood and aches and pains. Reflexology cannot diagnose, cure or replace medical care for health conditions, but it can be helpful in the symptom management of common health issues or when dealing with the stress surrounding a condition. Please consult your GP or specialist before commencing Reflexology if you are unsure.

Should I have Reflexology if I am pregnant?

Yes, you can have reflexology whilst you are pregnant, however there are things to be mindful of and I would encourage anyone who is seeking Reflexology for fertility or pregnancy issues to identify a Reflexologist that has carried out further specialist training in these areas to ensure you get the best support. Whilst I have not undertaken specific training in this area, I can signpost you to reputable Reflexologists who have.
